General Membership Benefits
Our members join JLFH for a variety of reasons, but we stay because we believe that we make an impact.
Provisional: Our members who are engaged in training to prepare for effective community and active League involvement.
Active: Active members serve as the League’s primary boots on the ground. They have completed their Provisional course and are volunteering in the community or In-League.
Sustainer: Those who have spent five years as an Active member in good standing.
Volunteer Your Way
Our members identify as employees, bosses, mothers, partners, daughters, friends and many other titles. That is why we offer opportunities with flexible time commitments, so members can help in a way that works for them.
While we have a strong focus on Literacy and Poverty initiatives, we are always willing to adopt new areas of impact, from Health, Nutrition and Food Insecurity to Environment, Education and Women’s Health. The ability to make a difference is entirely in the hands of each of our members.
Small Town = Big Voice
We are comprised of several small communities throughout the Flint Hills vicinity including Geary, Riley and
Pottawatomie Counties. When you volunteer with us, you make a lasting, LOCAL impact.
Unlike larger Leagues, our smaller size provides a unique opportunity to make your voice heard clearly across the organization and every individual member’s actions generate visible results.
Our small size also allows us to get better aquainted with each individual member, offering the opportunity to build lasting lifelong friendships with other professional women.
Strong leaders make strong communities. Whether you’re a born leader or one in training, JLFH provides an unparalleled platform to hone your leadership skills. Our members hail from across the country, from different backgrounds, races and religions. Each brings something unique to the table, and by training women to be effective collaborators, poised negotiators and committed volunteers we equip them to go out and serve their communities.
We believe that the empowerment of women is a necessary requirement to create positive, lasting societal change. Living the value of empowerment fosters trust and confidence in each other.
In addition to heading a project committee, leadership possibilities include: President, President Elect, Director of
Communications, Director of Finance, VP Membership, VP Community, VP Fundraising/Sponsorship and VP Organization
